C6 2006 i am the 3rd user. The 2nd user advised that the 1st user had the software changed for tuning purposes. This software change is causing the head lights not to work (both) and it is causing the GPS display to turn on and off on its own. i have taken the car to a professional c6 electrician who advised that electrical wirings and all fuses are working properly and he strongly advised to reinstall original software? Total cost 200$
can any one help and advise if i should reinstall the software?
btw there aren't any trusted chevrolet dealers around.
problems with low beams on early C6 have been going on for a few years. the problem lies inside the fuse box. a trace burns through and power never gets to the relays. some have stated that the relays overheat aswell. As far as the radio you may have a electrical problem (blow fuse probably) not a tuning issue.
Tuning is only done on the ECM. The ECM only controls the power train and does not control the GPS or the headlights. The first owner was spreading the bull dung quite liberally if he told the 2nd owner that story. The ECM tuning doesn't change any software it only changes some numbers in an array the software accesses.
The BCM controls the power moding in the car and it would be very difficult for anybody out side of GM or their suppliers to figure out how to reprogram it. They need special tools, knowledge of the software design and the ability to design and write computer software.
