Default 2007 Clutch

Test drove a 2007 base coupe M6 today. Clutch engages/disengages almost all the way out. Only has 10k miles on it. Owner claims it's always been that way. They are the original owners. My question is can that be right and it can be adjusted or is the clutch bad?

Thanks

Pretty common, most are that way. Many complain about it. There is no adjustment, just get used to it.

Some have posted that installing an adjustable master cylinder, such as the Tick, fixes that issue.

Mine grabs all the way out as well, got 17K on it. Holds the power fine though. Although I do hear the damn harmonic balancer squealing again after it's been warrantied twice...might wanna check that on your 07

Also, flushing the clutch fluid with the "Ranger Method" can help to bring engagement over to 50% stroke.

Thanks guys. I can get used to it I'm sure. Just wanted to make sure there's nothing wrong. If or when it needs to be replaced, installing a new one can get 50%? Please excuse the clutch ignorance.

If you put in a new clutch you can get an adjustable master/slave right to have whatever pedal catch you want.

and yes mine is all the way up too.. kinda sucks I wish it was WAY farther down but like everyone says you get used to it

I have an 07 coupe with Z51.. Purchased it at 25000 miles.. clutch engaged all the way out also. I've got 36000 on it now and it's still the same. Holds the power fine even after a full day of DE track.. I change the fluid Ranger method a few times per season and I'm using super blue DOT4... clutch just seems to be that way. When I need a new one, I'll get an LS7 clutch and I will hope it feels like it has a little more meat in the pedal. I've never felt it slip at all, but it is a bit concerning.. just get used to it and drive the p_ss out of the car!!

Good to hear it's not just me that thinks the clutch engagement is a little far out. Bought my car earlier this month with 14K and wondered if the previous owner had been rough on the clutch...

Seems pretty common. Going to pick up the 2007 Friday. Thanks everyone. I'm pretty sure the clutch is fine. The car ran great and the clutch was smooth.

There seems to be some variance even among stock cars. I know mine went from engaging halfway with the stock clutch to near the top of the pedal when I put in the Monster. As long as it doesn't slip when you punch it in high gear, you're likely alright.
