Default Powder Coating Calipers Question

I am looking to get my calipers powder coated, do i need to disassemble them or any prep work prior to getting them coated. Wasn’t sure if the rubber at the pistons needed to be removed or its good as it. Thanks

Haven't had it done but just checked vendor thepowdercoater.com site and here's what he says in response to a different question:

Is there any way to reduce the cost of powdercoating?
Yes, The most labor intensive part of powdercoating is the preparation. While we would have to discuss the specifics to finalize the discount, if you have the ability to strip your parts of all the rubber and plastic items (one exception is brake calipers, the rubbers can stay on), and really clean the parts before sending, we can work something out.

I had mine done by Mike the Powder Coater and I did what was listed in the site as far as break down. I did remove the brake lines, bolts, pads and drained what ever brake fluid may have been in them in order to avoid issues during shipping. I wiped them down real good with brake parts cleaner.

He did a great job with them:

Many colors look great on calipers, this one looks spectacular.

TKOGTO- I agree- it is a very nice color and it pops, especially with black wheels.

frankies- you are correct and he is very quick and reasonably priced. http://thepowdercoater.com/

Agreed Mike does awesome work, but he's a pilot and his schedule is kind of tricky to nail him down if you can be without your calipers for a while. I'm dealing with Chris @ ECS doing some work on my car and mentioned I want to get my Brembos powder coated Jetstream Blue, as pictured above. They have a powdercoater they work with and he did tell me that the rubber has to be removed from the calipers.

If you want them to look OEM, you need to remove EVERYTHING, including the equalizing line at the bottom. Although it probably looks better powdercoated . The rubber seals could be masked, but I'd remove them to avoid any issues. You might have to buy new ones though. Good luck.
