Maybe I'm old fashioned but if a car is complaining about something I like to find out what ASAP. If it's no big deal, great, but at least I know. So I say pull the codes.

I have HP Tuners but I usually use an $80 hand held to do a quick check for these type CEL's. Cheap insurance.
I agree with the others, get the codes read! This way you will know where you are starting at. Then go from there with replacements and repairs. Keep us posted,
get a code reader @ $50 & keep it in your tool box. It will save you tons of headaches in the future. the fuel cap on a C6 will trip the DIC and it takes a few days to fully reset.
Just to answer my own question for future reference, I checked my gas cap and it seemed loose. Funny thing is, I can make it click when it is not really on properly. I will watch for that in the future.
I went to the auto parts store a few blocks away and had the codes read. It was the gas cap code. The guy would not clear the CEL. I don't think they are allowed to clear error codes. They just read them.
Bottom line is, the DIC will not necessarily tell you when your gas cap is loose. I wish it did. That is a pretty common problem.
