Several weeks ago check engine light came on. A scan showed Code P0442 - Evaporative System Small leak. I replaced gas cap, reset CEL and went about my business hoping the gas cap was the issue. Today the same code came up again. Any suggestions ? I can find info on C5codes but not much on my 2008 coupe. My mileage is 18,300. Dealer the next stop? Is this part of the 80,000 mile emissions warranty? Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks in advance guys!
Usually caused by a bad gas cap. Also, when putting the cap in place, do NOT push it in to make it "tight". Put it on let it thread itself down and just turn it lightly until you get 3 or 4 clicks. Pushing it on while you twist can cause the code too.
Probably not a major concern. I had it come on once, cleared it, and it never came back. If it keeps popping up though, you may have an emissions issue.

Hi Electrovert,
I would like to check your VIN for open service announcements. Will you please private message me? Please reference this thread too.
Your concern could be part of your emissions warranty. It does depend on what your diagnosis is determined to be by the dealership. I look forward to your reply,
