Hey guys I can use some advise regarding my neighbors 2007 coupe.. This 500 mile car has been sitting in his garage since 2007..We used a battery jumper only to find the car does not recognize the key fobs anymore.. I am assuming we will need to do the long procedure for reprogramming these ? or is there something in addition we will need to do prior to this? We will use a trickle charger over the weekend and make another attempt next week.. Do you know of any other issues we may come across in attempting to get the car running again?..
No, no need to program FOBs. A dead battery does not cause the programming to be lost.
With a "GOOD" car battery and new FOB batteries that issue should not be an issue any longer.
IMO, rather than try to make the old dead battery work, put in a new one. These cars are so dependent on and sensitive to battery condition it isn't prudent to mess with a battery that will likely never be able to take a full charge again.
Thanks Rick.. I cant believe I didn't even consider that the key fob battery may have been bad.. I hope that's the reason.. I will also suggest that he replace the battery..

Did you put FOB in the slot in the glove box and try to start it?
I would replace the battery, don't mess around and slide the fob into the slot in the glove box.
before starting the engine hold the throttle TO THE FLOOR WHILE ENGAGING THE START BUTTON, that will prime the oil pump and the engine. YOU MAY HEAR NOISE FROM LIFTERS so don't panic, it may also idle FUNNY just give it a few minutes.
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm wonder what is the story behind it sitting in a garage for six years? Has it sat that long without running? IMO, I would change out all the fluids before running it much.
Thanks for the info guys.. Rick you were absolutely right...We changed the battery in the key fob and started trickle charging the battery. After a minute the driving lights came on and then the computer began giving us assorted information(low tire pressure ect..) Key fob working as it should also.. We will attempt a start tomorrow and I suggested a visit to the dealer for fluid changes and possible service bulletins.. As for why this vehicle has not been used, well I don't have a good answer.. I guess some people just feel good knowing its in their garage.. They are absolutely wonderful people and I know his wife would like to see him use it..and yes this car has not run since 2007.

Car will be dealer serviced soon. http://i1077.photobucket.com/albums/w478/slc1965/photo18_zps0c4721b9.jpg http://i1077.photobucket.com/albums/...ps36b1b85c.jpg
Modern radial tires don't flat spot much - it should work itself out with some driving. But, although there is no absolute maximum age to tires, those that are 6 years old might best be replaced.
