Default LG Headers / Offroad X-pipe -- NPP?

Hey guys,

I currently have a set of LG LT running down to an off road X-Pipe on my car. Then a set of B&B Bullets to finish it off... I've decided it is way too loud and purchased a set of NPP mufflers from an 08 vette today.

I believe that the NPP mufflers are 2.5", right? That means I'll need to find some sort of reducer coming off of the X-Pipe?

Has anyone installed this type of setup yet?

Thanks!

I believe LG makes reducers specifically for 2.5" axlebacks. I had a set of 2.5" MA Motorworks mufflers on my car before I went with a Z06 bi-mode exhaust.

If you haven't already looked into it I would get the NPP in a box as well. It's fairly easy to hook up and you can open or close the bi-mode/NPP exhaust. It's decently loud when open but it will drone at certain engine loads. It's pretty quiet when closed.

Yup! I'm going the commander elite route so it can be controlled via the RPM range!

Do you already have an NPP system? I don't think that setup will work unless you already have it from the factory.

Yup, they sell a full retro kit now... so even those who don't have it currently have the ability to get it.

First; Do you have '08 NPP mufflers or '08 Z06 bimode mufflers? The NPP's are 2.5", the Z06 are 3.0".

Second;I believe the off road X pipe was available in both 2.5" and 3.0" so you need to measure and see which one you have. If the back of the X pipe is 2.5" you can just bolt it up if you have an NPP exhaust.

I have read on here that a lot of members buy aftermarket exhaust before or after buying headers only to (finally) admit that they made a mistake and wasted a lot of money on an exhaust system that is now to loud.

I would suggest going with the stock 430 HP mufflers, they are quiet at idle and cruise but do start to talk under full guns with headers. They are practically giving them away if you don't already have them and with nothing more to buy, no moving parts that could malfunction; just bolt them on and from my experience they make just as much power as the NPP mufflers from the many trips I have made to the drag strip. Why do we feel the need to complicate things all the time?

Definitely appreciate the input! I did have the stock mufflers but I still wanted the option to scare the pee out of people. That's why I decided that I wanted NPP... I can turn them off to make the lady happy, but have my fun when the time comes!

I bought the NPP exhaust... I looked at the connecting pipes from the pipe to the muffler last night. It looks like they neck down to 2.5", so I should be okay. Only able to eye it right now though because the car is so low.

Thanks!

That's what I would do, set it up like the factory i.e. RPM controlled so the extra flow/HP is there when you need it without thinking about it. When someone hits it next to me while going down the road I don't want to have to remember to hit the switch.
