I blew up my LS2 motor, and am having a 403 stroker built with a complete FORGED bottom end (Crank, Rods, & Pistons, and ARP bolts..

The car is automatic with a 2800 converter,Will I be OK leaving the stock 243 heads as is in it or should I mill about .025 - .030 off them to raise the compression a little more..

I use the car around town (Not a Daily Driver, but once or twice a week, and drive 100 miles each way to & from the track...I'm just thinking I wont have enough compression with the stroker motor with the stock heads..

The car also has Kooks Headers, FAST intake manifold, Vararam CAI and a 2800 converter... still have the 3.15 rear gears...I could ask the shop to do a mild porting job...but would I really need it..

I plan on running the 11.50 Index and HAVE to be able to run 11.50 in the HEAT in July & Aug.

I'm guessing it should run low 11 sec with the above mods...

My sig shows my best ET and MPH before it blew up...it was a rod bolt that failed...

Why don't you let Cartek make that decision, since they're building the motor. I'm sure you've let them know what kind of results you expect and they understand what it takes to accomplish it.

Yes.. a very good idea.. I'll be going down there this week to talk to them... & see what they come up with...

Extra compression on an N/A motor is never ever a bad thing.

To put things in relative terms for you, go for a jog all while attempting to inhale through a drinking straw. That's about the equivalent of how well that 403ci engine will be doing with a set of stock valved, unported 243 castings on top of it. The short answer is yes, if budget allows absolutely have them opened up. She'll need all the air she can get.
