Default need help please

My 08 has developed a strange noise when I back up. It sounds like a brake related noise, almost like something rubbing against a spring. A ratchetty kind of noise. But it isn't the brakes. It only happens when reverse is engaged. With the clutch depressed the noise goes away. With the car out of gear and going backwards, there's no noise, and applying the brakes doesn't cause it. Only when in reverse with reverse engaged. The car runs fine and no problem going in reverse. Just wondering if it's something I should worry about. I have yet to replace the tranny and rear diff fluids. The car has 51k miles and has a Z51 pkg.

The 2 things you might want to check is:
1) The axle nuts, to assure they are tight
2) Differential fluid might need changing and a fluid break in to follow.

I tightened the rear axle nuts and that seems to have solved the problem.

The axle shafts nuts. You just pop the center cap off the rear wheels get a 33-34mm socket and try to loosen it up without too much force. If it come loose easily, well they are loose then. You're not supposed to reuse those nuts but most people do. I just removed one at a time added loc-tite and torqued to 140ftpounds.
