Default Quieter muffler needed for my beast.

My 07 Z06 has stock mufflers, but with over 900 HP, headers, free flow/no cats, my daily driver is just too loud at idle and has a resonating drone.

What works?

Actually putting a set of cats back in can help but likely the headers are the biggest offender. (The price to pay for max hp).

But I do recall b&b adding a resonator to the bullet exhausts to calm them down a bit, might be worth a call.

I just had cats put on my car and it did quiet the exhaust down a bit. I just moved from Fla. to Vegas so I had too

You can get some 05 C6 mufflers. They will be VERY quiet. That thing must be a beast. Very cool!

Running hi-flow cats is best advised for controlling the overall exhaust note as they will now help burn off the excess fuel. Our 200 cell converters and very efficient and experience no loss in HP across the entire RPM range.

SW has just redesigned our C6 headers and exhaust so stay tuned for some pics and NEW Video. Our new muffler design uses a similar concept to the OE type muffler but much improved flow. The end result is quiet tone with headers...hmmmm don't see that too often!!

Video coming next few days.....STAY TUNED!!

Appreciate all the input. I really do need my car quieter. Even if I gun it to reach the speed limit from a red light, it sounds as if I am at a dragstrip.

I had the SAME problem with my modified 01 SS Z28. I tried everything. Then I put a stock Z28 muffler on the car and it made a world of difference. 05-06 stock C6 mufflers will quiet the car down.

A good set of Hi flow cats will make a world of difference. An X-pipe might help with the drone as well if your still using the factory H-pipe.

Good luck making any cats live at 900 rwhp. Your stock Z muffs are actually a pretty good deal if you can make them live without rattles. I've done the NPP thing and it's good until the cans crack up internally. Corsa sports were the answer for me. With long tubes, no cats, cam, 9psi, they're pretty civilized at cruise. They sound mean at idle and WOT. The ability to go quiet and then stupid loud is a great concept. Just wished it worked as advertised.

I have 03 Z06 with 905rwhp. I have Kooks 1 7/8" headers and 3" pipes.
I installed some race mufflers as described by Jegs. The mufflers are only about 12" long. I use them as resonators. I am using the stock 03 Z06 mufflers. No resonances in the car, the sound level is reasonable, I do not enjoy a loud car.

The last thing I would ever want: mild to wild switch. Really looking for mild to milder switch.

Hi I also have 900rwhp. I am using mufflers from Jegs , or Summit that are called race mufflers 3" to 3" and only about 1" long , they are located in place of the cats . They work well with stock Ti mufflers no resonances.

I switched back from offroad to hi flow cats several years ago and the volume was embarrassingly quiet. Had to switch exhaust sytems to regain some sound. Cats will "silence" your car.

I am going to try resonators first. That is the easiest thing to do first. Don't have to pull everything out that way.
