Default D Style Steering Wheel installation

I have an 08 Z06 and want to replace my stock steering wheel with a D Style. Several aftermarket ones are available. Can someone direct me to instructions on "steering wheel removal/replacement". I guess my question is should I attempt doing this myself? I am an average wrench.
Thanks

I want to purchase a D wheel too. A little research has me thinking that DS Vettes might be the best place to purchase one. It says that their website store in being updated and it has been that way for a few days. Pretty lame.

Anyway, it seems to be a somewhat simple DIY.

Here you go:

and another:

Very easy to do.

Thanks, I found a few suppliers. Corvette Museum has one that looks like others sell. I saw the one you found and is also an option. I also saw a post not recommending DIY because of potential air bag problems.

Lots of us have done steering wheel R&R. It's pretty simple and easy. The main gotchas are:
  1. remember to disconnect the battery and wait a minute or two before going to work on the thing
  2. take it easy as the wires in the steering wheel are thin and if you break one it will be a PITA to repair.
  3. you may need a puller to get the wheel off.
  4. be careful putting things back. It *all* has to go back exactly the way it came apart. There are some little "plugs" in there that *must* be there.

That said, it really is pretty easy. Just be thoughtful and take your time.
