Hey guy's, i would like to replace the sway bars and shocks since they are bone stock. i have decided to go with Johnny Oconnell sway bars. it's mostly a street car, but i will be going to the track to do a few passes as well. i would like to hear some of your experiences, this would be greatly appreciated.
if you have a base model, put Z51 sways{about 225} on it and Biltein shocks{about 300} first and you will be AMAZED!!!! Then if you think you need a race car then you can throw away $2500, Best $ you can put into a base model, the engineers at GM know what their doing, Gene Culley gmparts house .com can give you the best price on the sways. I too have a late year 2006, I love spanking the LS3's and the GS's
Honestly speaking? i will go with the Johnny Oconnell sway bars, i have Bilstein shocks already, ill see how the car responds with the set up, plus i also have 20" wheels 345/25/20 in the rear and 285/30/19 on the front. like you said if you want a race car? well then that's another story altogether. i appreciate your response. i saw you responded to others regarding this similar matter. thanks again mate.
My car had the z51 option.....I went to phadt featherlight coil overs w/z06 sway bars and some very nice performance tires and.........it makes the z51 set up seem sloppy.
I did the Pfadt kit with coilovers, sway bars and alignment kit. I went the Bilstein route with afterrmarket bars, but would have saved both time and money if I had just bought the Pfadt kit at the beginning.
[QUOTE=truckplay;1585221626]since you have that much tire, why not get Z06 shocks and sways. I run them on both my C5 vert and on my f55 coupe I run Z06 sways only.[/Q
z06 sway bars are ok, then you get the z06 owners who had them go with a better set up lol. i might go with the johnny o'connell corvette suspension, with a better shock as well. still seeing whats out there. and thanks for your feedback friend.
I ship JOC bars to replace the factory z06/zr1/ z51 bars all day long. I'm not even sure why its considered an "upgrade", my guess is z06 owners are dumping their used bars for cheap as they replace them with aftermarket bars.
The issue with all of the factory bars, is that the balance front to rear is not ideal for 99% of drivers out there.
The JOC bars will give the car an incredible balance. Sway bars aren't just there to reduce body roll, they are there to control the weight transfer to the front and rear tires. This allows you to "balance" the grip during high speed cornering. The result will be blistering fast cornering and excellent control.
When it comes to shocks, there are similar considerations. The package of the JOC shocks and swaybars will completely transform your car into a track ready daily diver
I did the Pfadt kit with coilovers, sway bars and alignment kit. I went the Bilstein route with afterrmarket bars, but would have saved both time and money if I had just bought the Pfadt kit at the beginning.
Thank you for the support. I see a log of guys to that route and I appreciate you chiming in with some advice. It really will save money and time to just do this right the first time.
I'll update the thread and let everyone know how it goes. I've been running the z06 bars and it didn't improve the balance at all. It did slightly cut down on body roll, but it didn't do a single thing to correct any over-steer under-steer.
