do you have to have a special windshield to install a HUD in 2007 vette? What happens if you do not thank you

No. It works fine with the "non-HUD" windshield in my '07.

I got mine from Andrew6. He offers a few different colors and he has a good write-up for dyi installation. I was being slow and cautious and it only took 2.5 hours.

There is probably some improvement from using the special HUD windshield, otherwise GM would have saved a ton of money by eliminating it. But most people who use the standard windshield with a HUD seem happy with the results.

The HUD should work with a non-HUD windshield. It may not be as crisp as with the HUD one though.
