6 Speed Transmission
I have read some things on here about changing the oil in a manual trans. The dealer where I'm having some work done suggests I have the oil changed because it is discolored.
People I talk to in my club are split on this issue, do you need to change the oil in a manual trans.? I was under the impression that you do not have to change the oil.

There is no scheduled maintenance requirement in my 06 Owner Manual for manual transmission fluid. However I changed mine a couple of years ago after the car passed its 5 year old birthday and I felt it was just good practice to renew all fluids at that time. But that's just me, and I'm a perfectonist DIYer and picky about car maintenance, plus I wanted to try Redline Synthetic in the trans.

I changed the oil in my 56k mile '05 last weekend. The oil that came out looked like it had never been changed (I've owned the car for ~5 months). While there is no change interval called for that I'm aware of, it should be changed periodically, as the properties of the trans oil will break down over time.
