My last vette a c5 which i had in 2004 i removed the battery for the winter with no side effects. (i keep it on a 1 amp charger down my cellar). Can i do the same with my 08 z06? I got this car in august, so its the first time putting it to sleep.
why not just get a battery maintainer. they can be found at harbor freight from $15. if you want to undo the battery just pull one cable and leave it in the car.

I do not like the idea of having a live electric extension hooked to the car all winter. I also completely wrap the car ( 4 mill plastic on top of plywood and driven over) tight and then covered, wires shouldnt touch the body. The battery is then put in my warm celler, cold and batteries dont agree. I will only do this if there are no crazy side affects and will have to do as you suggest if there are.
I think it's a good idea. I used to do that with our ski boat. (battery removal not the wrap) There are no side affects with the C6. Just re-index the windows and your good to go.

The last thing I'd do is "shrink wrap" a car. I've kept a maintainer on mine all winter for 8 years and don't even think twice about it. To each his own though.

Open the hood some day during the winter after a long cold spell and when you get a warm spell, watch the block, rotors, trans, rear all sweat. exhaust manifolds rust along with anything cast iron, aluminum gets that white dust on it. When the car is wrapped tight it and sitting on plywood in the garage, it doesnt do it. I have no heat in my garage.

I keep a small blower running on low speed under my car all winter to eliminate any possibilty for moisture to appear anywhere.
