Default Factory Navigation system - Auto screen brightness not working

The factory Navigation / Radio on my 2005 C6 Convertible work fine except for the “Auto” screen brightness setting. I can manually select the “Day” or “Night” day settings and when I slide switches on the screen, it will progressively dim or brighten. However, if I put it on the “Auto” setting, it stays wherever it was previously set regardless of the light outside or whether or not my headlights are on or off. I assume that the little bubble looking thing on the center of the dashboard is light sensor, right? Has anyone else had this problem and have you found a fix? Thanks in advance for your help!

Hey guys, FYI- I posted this message in the general C6 forum as well and someone suggeted disconneting the battery . . . well It worked!!!!! I disconnected the battery for about 15 minutes, connected it and Wa-lah! - My auto screen mode works! When the headlights come on (manually or in auto), the screen dims. Thanks and I hope this helps someone else.

It's actually attached to the interior lights not the headlamps. It's just that TYPICALLY when you have the headlamps come on that the interior lamps come on as well. But they are different.
