Default c6 magnacharger install. (why do this?)

I recently purchased m112 supercharger. Looking through install instructions they have me do two things. But not sure why???
1 drill two holes in crank pulley and tap in two pins flush? Only guessing so pulley doesn't ever spin?
2 loosen crossmember bolts and shim 3/8th and unbolt motor mounts???? Why? The pitch of radiator makes things tighter the more engine is raised? Don't see anything telling me why either?

Any ideas???
II'll do what they ask me to do to install. Just don't have a clue and couldn't find anything on this subject...

Thanks lost backyard mechanic...

Pinning the crank is so it never spins.

Drilling and pinning one hole in the crank/pulley is plenty. Two is overkill. Maybe someone who has done an MP112 on a C6 can elaborate on the shim deal. I have a TVS2300 and shims weren't necessary.

The shimming is only temporary. (Forgot to add) they also state raise the engine with wood block making sure not to damage anything against firewall?

If they are saying to raise the motor temporarily, it may be so you can drill the crank without removing the steering rack? Just a guess really.
