There are so many things I need and want to do to my car. Replacing a differential and or transmission is not one of them. What I am looking to do is install the brace from RPM that provides support for the differential and transmission. It is $400, but will provide safety regarding my '05. However, you want more HP, so you may not have a choice but to swap.

I look forward to hearing more comments and suggestions on this.

Might as well contact the best....RPM. The Z06 diff is a little pricey but well worth it. The brace won't help what you have now, it's a splatter waiting to happen.

but the z06 diff doesn't have gearing options, i'm assuming stock for stock the Z06 is the best bang for the buck but for an "upgrade" whats the best? can't remember what the stock gearing is off the top of my head for a Z06 someone please chime in.

Diving across country with a 3.90 will wear you down as well as your wallet for fuel. Great for grunt though.

Sorry, not RPM. The two I know of are ECS (EastCoastSupercharging) and DTE.

Here is a thread on both:

Here is info on the ECS Unit:

Get a C5 Z06 diff. It is the 3 rib model. Then contact Stanger383 (Norm) on this forum for a diff mounting bracket. Take the money you are saving and buy gears. C5 Z06 3 ribs hold to 1000hp.

I love mine.

LMFAO I tried that a few times with 750rwhp... It didn't work out to well even with the brackets. RKT performance C6Z06 rear, never had a problem. Thank you RKT..

05 diffs all break the same. The case cracks in two and the pinion spits out the back.

In my case the brace did nothing. I still bent my mainshaft, as virtually everybody does when the case breaks.

That said mine lasted 301 hard launches. They are not made if glass. The key is to avoid wheel hop at all costs. Drag radials help a lot with that.

I used a European Z51 diff case with Quaiffe center, C5 pinion bearing, hardened shafts, 3:73 gears and an ECS brace.

^^^ The diff cooler is a great option if you road course....I have a diff temp gauge and it gets to 250 on the highway and would get up to 280 on the road course.

Sure. Use an oil temp gauge as they go to 300 degrees. The diff fill plug is an odd metric size and you cannot find an adaptor to the ¼ sending unit. The standard adaptors that come with the gauge will not work. I bought a magnetic diff drain plug from Ecklers and drilled it and tapped it to the sending unit and it's been great for 7 years.

I put a toggle switch in the pod and got an extra sending unit and I can switch between trans and diff temp. The adaptors fit the transmission.

The transmission runs much cooker, my z51 car has a trans cooler. It runs around 220.
