There is a seal that looks like RTV near the drain plug on my '05 MN6... I seem to have developed a leak in this seal on the passenger side, just below the level of the fill plug. I must be low on transmission fluid but I didn't notice anything wrong while driving the car. The drips on the garage floor was the indication something was wrong...
Questions... would I have gotten any messages on the DIC if I hurt anything? Transmission over temp or something like that? Secondly, what would you say I'm in for cost-wise to repair this? I don't mind doing brake jobs and such myself but I'm thinking this is probably beyond my capabilities...
Appreciate any comments you can offer. I have pics of the area if that helps.
I had a leak about 2 weeks ago. Took it in to get checked out and needed a gasket replaced. Parts were only about $100. The labor was what killed me. They had to take the whole transmission out to make the repair. Out the door with my military discount was a hair above $1500. I have an 05/A4.
I agree with you. I'm not messing with a transmission. And no, I didn't get any DIC warnings either but I did have drips on the garage floor as you're describing.
