Default Track Mode "G" Indication

This statement is on page 3-22 of the Owner's Manual for my '08 base car:

While in Track Mode 1 or 2, the maximum G value achieved during the current ignition cycle can be displayed by pressing and holding the PAGE button. The maximum G display will be shown until the PAGE button is released. The maximum G value display will be identical to the normal G value display, except the maximum G gage digits (X.XX G) and corresponding G gage bar will overwrite the current G value.

I can't get this to work. For me holding the Page button only brings up the minor gauges just the same as momentarily pushing the button. Is the manual in error or have some of you been able to make the HUD display the max Gs?

Thanks.

Oh yeah, have a great Thanksgiving!

I have to ask, did you drive the car and then hold down the page button without turning off the ignition?

You have to hold the page button down for a long time, longer than you would think. Probably somewhere around 8-10 seconds.

You don't need to be in Track mode on the HUD in order for the G to be recorded, but you do need to be in Track mode to actually look at the G that is recorded.

The sequence would be:

(Pull over and stop, for safety. Do NOT turn off the engine.)

Put HUD in track mode, if not already there.

Press and hold Page button until recorded G appears. I think it only takes 5 seconds, but as other mentioned it seems like forever.

After looking at the G, Press Page button repeatedly until you get the desired Page indication for normal driving.

If you start driving again without shutting off the engine, and achieve a new higher G, that will also be stored and can be viewed using the procedure above. If you start driving again without shutting off the engine, the previous max G will remain stored and can be viewed again until you shut off the engine.

Shutting off the engine, clears the stored G.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll try holding the button down longer next time. I know I've held it for at least 5 seconds but probably no more.
