Default Defi Gauge Wire Cluster Identity Help

I purchased a set of Defi gauges under the impression that all the wiring and hardware was standard. Well when they arrived, the wiring looks like it was cobbled together and is definitely not stock. The two gauges are Boost and Fuel Pressure which feed into the Defi-Link Control unit II. The connection between the gauges and from the gauges are straight forward as well as the fuel pressure sensor to the control unit. The unidentifiable mess is from the boost sensor. I identified the boost sensor as a GM 2 bar MAP sensor. This is what I don't know.
1. What is the small box attached to the GM 2 bar MAP sensor?
2. What is the larger rectangular box with all of the connectors coming out of it? I opened it up and it is covered in black epoxy except for 2 small adjustment *****.
3. One of the connectors is an Ethernet type connector and the control unit does not have the same type of connector on it. So what is it used for?
4. I can identify the red (positive) and black (negative) wires and am guessing the green is the signal from the MAP, which all leads to the larger box. So what are the long red and brown wires coming out of the larger box?
5. What are the purple and grey wires coming off one of the connectors?
Sorry for all the questions, but the guy I purchased them from claims his mechanic installed and removed it from the car and he has no knowledge of how it works. Not what he told me to begin with. He is now not talking so I am trying to make this work so I'm not left purchasing more wires/sensors to get it working. Any help at all is much appreciated.

I know this isn't really Corvette related so is there a better place to put this?

Thanks...I will try that. But I also think I'm gonna just get rid of that mess and buy a replacement boost sensor.
