I've read all the threads about the problem air bag light. I zipped tied the connector, I pulled the seat out and checked for pinched/damaged wires and still get the red light. My questions is now that's it's almost always on, can I connect it to a computer to see it it's the tensioner or something else? Would the computer tell me if it's driver or passenger side?
The zip tie method has always worked for me but it is temporary. It last any where from a few months to a year.
Make sure to report the problem to the NHTSA on the link below. It's the only way we will get GM to correct this potentially deadly problem. It only takes a few minuets. Will the air bag deploy when the check air bag light is on? Nobody will answer that question.
If the car is out of warranty, are you stuck paying for the air bag repair? Mine was doing it, but the zip tie stopped it. I know people will say its bad, but if it happens again, i'm not paying to have it fixed. For one we lived without airbags for many years and two I think safety features should work on cars, shouldn't be something we have to pay to fix. Too many people reporting this problem on these cars too.
I'm going to connect to the scanner and see if it's the pre tensioner or the passenger air bag sensor and go from there. I already zip tied both seats so it may be something else. I would just like to locate the problem.

The problem with having GM fix the problem is there is no permanent fix. The connectors under the seat are a bad design. If the connectors are the problem GM has not come up with a fix. Notify the NHTSA. http://www.nhtsa.gov/Vehicle+Safety/Recalls+&+Defects
Pull the plug apart. Pack it with Dielectric grease, then put it back together. Wire ties work. Make sure the back and forth motion of the seat hasn't pressed the wire up under the rail. That happened to me which is why it was intermittent.
I just received this official response from GM. After reading the letter you will see GM knows all about the problem and what is causing it. The problem is they don't care. We are on our own to fix the problem. Even the dealer doesn't know what to do as I have said many times. The only way we will get this potentially deadly problem corrected is with the NHTSA's help. Make sure to file a complaint with them. It only takes a few minuets
The air bag light concern is caused by the seat belt connector under the drivers seat coming loose. There was a change made in 2008 that moved the connector that helps some but did not completely remedy it. It can also be seen in fewer numbers in 2008 – 2010. It was driven by the connector being placed directly under the seat cushion. When a customer uses easy exit or memory so the seat moves at each door opening it will work the connector loose over time. The fix was to attach it to the seat frame so it did not get drug across the bottom of the carpet. In 2008 they made the wire a little longer to move the connector out of the way. I am not aware of any discussion for a recall or customer satisfaction action because it was self-declaring.
Okay, I got a friends scanner and came up with a B0103 Electric Front End Sensor 2 Fault. Would that be an actual sensor or could it be still be a loose connector under the passenger seat?

You will have to check it out. GM used their tech11 to determine that my check air bag light was a faulty pre-tensioner. They replaced it under the GMPP and a few months later the light was back on. The tech11 was reading an open circuit to the pre-tensioner not a defective one. While replacing it he made a new connection that lasted a few months.
Make sure to file a complaint with the NHTSA. It only takes a few minuets. As the above letter says GM will not correct the problem. Will the air bags deploy when the check air bag light is on? Nobody knows.
According the GM there is no permanent fix. Read there letter above and they admit the problem is caused by the wires and connector dragging across the carpet. I just changed mine as follow's. I move the connector to the top of the seat rail. I zip tied it up so it will stay on top. I drive with the seat low and I checked the seat operation and the connector dragged on the carpet. Now it doesn't.

Thanks for the pictures. Looks like a fix that should work. So far mine has stayed OK since I zip tied the connector tight, but if it comes loose and gives me the bag light again I'll do what you did. By the way, I did send in a NHTSA complaint.
