Default help diagnosing odd sound please

I have a 2005 corvette with some work done to it (cam, headers, rear diff, and I'm sure other things I'm yet to find) anyways, no suspension work that is apparent.
the noise is give or take. seems to do it when the wheel is turned to the left and a few seconds after straightened out. seems to only be at 2-20ish mph. not heard at higher speeds. I narrowed it down to be on the passenger side then had a friend stick his head out of the window and he narrowed it to the back. the noise is coming from we're guessing the rear passenger side and sounds like someone stuck a card in between my rim spokes. when the noise is made, it seems to be at a speed higher than one revolution of the wheel, seems to be a few times per revolution. I looked all around the wheels and see nothing in the way or out of the ordinary. it just sounds like something is being dragged under the car or something stuck in between the spokes. I can't really think of another way to describe it.

but I'll be jacking it up when I get off tomorrow to see if I can look any further and find something. just looking for suggestions on what to look for or what the problem may be. thank you guys!

Two things come to mind. One, loose axle nut. The other possible cause is the diff lube needing to be replaced. My 07 would chatter when turning at low speed. Once I replaced the fluid the noise went away and has been gone for the last three years. Something about the orig fluid didn't have the proper anti-friction additive.

Good luck.

thank you!

right? that's a lot of threads for it to just screw off of. isn't it just a back up as a safety feature though? or is there a use for it?

You are correct...the wheel wouldn't fall off. I did read somewhere though on this forum that after someone over tightened the nut the axle broke which is of course dangerous. You might want to search for that thread for more detail. The key is to torque to recommended specs.

from spin monster "That damage was caused by the tensile stress from the nut being TQ'ed too tight. Forget the loose nut theory. I had the issue 2 times with a overzealous mechanic with a breaker bar bragging that the nuts will never come loose after he tightens them. It pulls the end out while the inside of the axle is pressing against the hub....it effect stretching it."

gotcha! thank you! to be completely honest I just slapped the old one back on and tightened til I thought I should stop. I'll call around and find a new one tomorrow and torque down properly to 130ft/lbs (in between torque specs that were raised from 118 to 140) with loctite 272.
should I even mess with the other one that has presented no problems?
