Default 2005 PSI Sensor not working

My guage is maxed out with the ignition on. Is it a major issue. I've heard it's quite common

What gauge are you talking about?

I would guess Oil Pressure? Mine is doing same thing. I heard (the sensor) is located where you have to remove the intake to get to it.

Yes, the PSI guage-oil It's under the intake manifold and you need to remove it before replacing the sensor. One person told me he replaced it and six months later it went out again. I'ld rather not mess with it, right now.I don't think it's a major issue. If I were going to open up the engine for something else, at that time I would have it replaced.

PSI gauge could be tire pressure but I guess you're talking oil presure. It's not a "common" failure, and you need to get it fixed quickly. Loss of oil pressure will destroy the engine. Buy and install a new oil pressure sender or pay for a new engine and installation?

Removing the intake manifold is not a major problem, anybody that can read a manual can do it in less than an hour with hand tools.
If you are using the '05 Helms Manual ignore the part about draining the coolant. There is no coolant flow thru the intake, that part of the manual is a few years out of date.

somebody makes a "relocation kit" I forget who? keeps you from having to pull the intake in the future.

I tried removing manifold to replace on my '05 several years ago, only to start breaking off plastic connector tabs and finding super stiff wires.

Ended up cutting a hole over the sender to replace, and it has paid dividends in time saved over the years since the OEM replacement one failed shortly after.

The BWD? brand at Kragen/O'reilly I replaced with is what I recommend, since it lasts and has lifetime warranty.

The dealer broke that one during oil seal repair and put in a new OEM one which of course failed within 2 weeks, and I had to buy another BWD one to put in and it lasted.

Then head n cam shop put in OEM one with their work and I replaced that with BWD.

BWD did fail one time, it still read the correct psi, but was leaking some oil out of it. Got free replacement for it when I took it in for lifetime warranty.

Lesson here is, when you replace it, don't put in another OEM sender.
