Bought a used Vararam. Quick question on possible missing piece....

I bought a used Vararam for my '08 C6 LS3 Coupe. In the pic below you can see a red piece. I did not get this piece from seller. Is this red piece necessary???

I have one on a 2007 and it is the mounting bracket.

I bought one brand new and it didn't come with that piece.

you need that piece to mount the lower half, then the tabs on the opening clip into the grill

I have that on my LS2 VaraRam.

Should be able to get a new one, however, they may have done away with it on their newest CAI's.

Thanks for the help, guys. I sent an email to Vararam, and hopefully they can sell me just the bracket. I guess I shoulda done more homework prior to purchase. Live and learn.....

I believe this to be the case as mine didn't have one but it installs securely. i do have the latest version.
I see you have a ls3 so that could be the difference.

So you didn't get that part either? I'm guessing the seller used the Vararam on a '05-'07 non-Z06 car then. That'd mean you'll also need the rubber hose connectors.

Those must have been for an LS2 application, since mine was for a LS3/Z06 and didn't have that feature when purchased in early '08.

Yeah, I see them in this pic from Vararam site:
