Default Starting issue

So I ran into this issue a month ago were my 2005 wouldn't start. Battery was good, cars electronics turn on and when u went to hit the start button nothing would happen. At first I thought it was a clutch switch.
-So I replaced that, but that wasn't the problem.
-After reading and searching I decided to disconnect the battery and see if that would do anything. Oddly enough that fixed the issue and my car started.

Today I go to start my car again and it wouldn't start. I would like to fix the issue so I'm not stranded next time. I remember reading about a steering lock issue? Can anyone confirm that that might be the issue and educate me about he problem.

Thanks!

Are you certain? Bad batteries behave exactly as you describe.

Check the condition of the battery connection at the starter motor. Those are known to loosen and fail.

Yeah I thought it was the battery at first. The first time I left it on the charger, made sure it was charged. Tried starting it and nothing. Then I thought maybe jump starting it. That didn't work either.

Next time I have it in the air I could check the connection at the starter I guess.

Also I noticed the positive and negative cable connectors to the battery are weird by design.... Maybe replacing them with ones that bolt on tighter?

I just retired from a battery company, if you want to come over, I can run all kinds of tests on your battery and electrical system.

Ah the good ol 2005.

When you try to start it does it say "service steering lock" on the dic or anything else strange? I would just go ahead and do the steering column lock bypass that's available now.

My car did this a couple times, and it quit when I started leaving it on a charger when it was parked.

It's either the battery or the SCL.

Doesn't someone make fix for the SCL issue?

Thanks for the link! Also there aren't any words that come up on my dash like service lock.

Then those symptoms are along the lines of what my car did. I solved it by keeping it on a battery charger when it was parked. Odds are it's your battery. I'd still do the SCL bypass though for good measure. It's cheap piece of mind.
