Well it's not tragic, but I've always said there are no bonus points on a timeslip for style. I thought I had researched it well enough and had found the weight of the C4 9.5x17 A-mold wheels to be somewhere between 18 and 19#. So I bought a pair to replace the 19# C5 Z06 9.5x17 that I had been running for several years. Just before I had my new Hoosiers mounted today, I weighed them and they were 20#. So now I've added 2# total, just because I wanted to make the rear wheels match a little closer to the GTO skinnies on the front. Aarrrrrggg!
At least they look kinda nice.

I did find a little tidbit to help determine remaining tire life. A new Hoosier 275/40x17 weighs 21.5#. The same tire with cord showing weighs 17.5#. So once the tire wears down and the grooves fade away, I can weigh the tire/wheel and compare to the original 41.5#, knowing that 37.5# is the limit.

Yeah I've always known that the 17" A-molds were at least slightly heavier than the 17" C5 Z06 rims and even more so than the narrower C5 Y2k 'thin spokes'. Talking all factory/OEM of course, aftermarket versions of each of those almost always weigh more.
They DO look good though, I've always liked the style of the C4 era ZR1/Collector Edition/Grand Sport (and 4th gen Camaro SS) rims.

Tom we can always send Marc over when you race He is our weight management director. Makes me feel guilty about eating before I get in to drive and reminds me to remove everything that is not necessary

True.
Although I think Tom is on top of that already, he too knows what it takes to maximize a set up, a sort of 'southwest version of me' if you will.

I've been accused of taking an enema before racing and going commando to save weight. This extra 2# is just killing me, down to the point I'm starting to count calories. I'm ordering strawberry sundaes now instead of hot fudge, it's that serious.

Actually, I went to SIR (Tucson) yesterday to test out the Yank SS4000 and the only change for race prep was the new DR/wheels. Glovebox, console, and cubbies were full, so I'd estimate the car was ~200# over race weight. Even though the DA ranged from 4000 to 4600, it matched/bettered the previous PB for 60' times. Our Phoenix track opens next Friday for the first time since last March.

Tom you must be the west coast version of Marc

I would imagine to see some great numbers from you shortly, good luck

Btw I would think that by this time all of us would know how important weight reduction is.......(besides you & Marc)

Unfortunately the C7 has gained a few pounds but GM in its ultimate wisdom made it smaller on the inside so we all will have to lose a few pounds... end result no weight gain
