Default Oil Plug

This is a shot of the residue left on the magnetic drain plug. I get that they make them magnetic to catch stuff like this but I'm thinking that this may be a bit excessive. Anybody that's changed their oil that would comment I'd appreciate it.

I have the same problem. I don't have enough miles on my car to make a decision. Doing oil sample at each oil change. Last oil change at 9600 miles.

I have the same mileage as you do. I'm also not sure what it looked like before on the last change, I wasn't there to see it. And right now I'm thinking what if the last guy didn't wipe it off? Then this is maybe from 2 or 3 oil changes. Too much stuff to look after on these cars.

If there since new, no biggie. If it had an oil change before, it seems a bit excessive to me. Looks like you bought the car used, and without maintenance history, so I'd send an oil sample for evaluation to see what's going on. Good luck.

Blackstone just sent my results back last week. Only thing high was titanium, we traced that to the Castrol Edge, it's one of their additives.
So now I'm not sure what to think.
I did buy the car used but with only 2400 miles on it.
