Default Power Steering hose routing question

Hello - I have been having issues with the routing of the upper hose that attaches to the steering rack.

I removed the rack to replace the crank pulley - and the hose coming out of the bottom of the power steering fluid pump is giving me issues.

After sliding my steering rack out of the way - I got the hose router under the part that attaches to the steering column - and up and around into the top port.

I haven't torqued down the nuts to the cross member yet - but the top hose looks like it will line up and thread into the rack.

My problem is that the top hose is resting against the steering rack boot - and is prevent the rack from turning side to side....

Have I routed it correctly?

I took several pictures below - hopefully this helps show you what I am talking about.

i think your problem is the routing from the reservoir to the cooler. Mine spun at the reservoir and it looked bad until i figured it out. From what i remember the lines at the rack were different sizes so you could not make a mistake as to wnere they fit. Mine seems to have about 1/2 " between the rack and the lines. I would loosen the fittings, play around and you will figure it out. If you could do the pulley swap yourself you are smart enough to figure it out take a break, drink a beer and get back to work.

good luck.

Thanks - I worked on this again tonight -and I popped the rack out to the passenger side - moved the hose coming from the reservoir - and popped the rack back in.

i got about a half inch clearance now - the hose that pointed too with the red arrows below - i ended up routing the hose to the right of the fittings that you didn't have to take off when I pulled the rack.

The fittings look to be at the right angle - but I try to thread it in by hand and the things tighten a tiny bit then pop off - how hard should it be to get the fittings into the rack?

hope you got it fixed. I slid mine out the passenger side also, did it twice, once for the pulley and once when I did my cam swap.
my fingers don't work like they used but after I threaded them in by hand, I used a line wrench to SNUG them up. I ran a drop of Teflon on the threads and checked the lines after running the engine and turning the steering.
