need a heat shield
Guys it happened to me too. The heat from my kooks long tube headers caused my starter solenoid to melt. So now that's all fixed up, I dont want to go any further without installing a heat shield. The thing is, I can't find one. Any ideas?

I never had any issues, but while my doing my rebuild, I did this just in case.. Almost free, and functional.

I don't think too many people will see it so I didn't worry about looks.

I used a flexible heat shield reflective type with adhesive backing.
Since the starter was in the car already, could not get access to wrap the entire starter. Also wrapped the header tube in that area.
