This is kinda embarrassing, I took the car apart before I went on vacation, and by now have it almost assembled again, but for the life of me I can't find the damn hole for the dipstick tube.
Doesn't it go on the passenger side somewhere?
It's on the passenger side and goes down(by the heat shield) right behind the second plug. Appears to hit the block behind the third plug??? Just went out to look. Hope that gets you close.
On my C5, it goes down into the oil pan, , just under the engine, but it was kind of an odd angle and somewhat obscured by the stock exhaust, not so much by headers. Seems like it was between cylinders 6 and 8 on the pan but the tube comes up between 4 and 6 if that makes sense.
tube bolts to the headers or stock exhaust manifolds. My C6 was a Z06 with dry sump so not sure if its is the same.

Second plug from the front of the motor? Thanks this is helpful
I had the same problem. My solution was to remove the wheel and place a shop light above the header and then look from though the wheel well to find the hole and then guide the tip of the dip stick in with my finger. It goes in more toward the fire wall than one would think.

I remember having the best luck when I got the tub vertical as opposed to trying to rock it into place at an angle.
It also really helps to have a second set of hands to guide it in from underneath if possible. I can't go look at my car right now but I think it goes between the 2nd and 3rd exhaust port (on my ls3).
Okay got it in, it's a pretty awkard spot right by the starter and even once you know where it goes, it's still hard to get in there, had to get a 2nd pair of hands to help me out.
