Default Racing wheel install

I had a hard time finding this information through searching so this will serve as a reference for those who wish to install a racing wheel and quick release into their corvette C6

Parts needed:

Hub adapter:

NRG is the only company making one for our cars, its a great looking peice, solid but not heavy.

Quick release: Quick release:

Again, NRG is fantastic. They are big in the import world but their youtube videos caught my eye. The unit is solid, light and most importantly releases quickly and retains a horn function if you desire.

Steering wheel

I wanted slightly smaller than stock with a D-bottom as well as an integrated horn so I went with the OMP Super quad

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now use this link and remove your old wheel. I was lucky and did not need a puller. I harnessed myself in and pulled forcibly.

This is how it went in:

The button they removed is an additional lock on the release mechanism. I removed it as well for faster exiting, this step is not nessiary for installation.

After about 45 minutes this is what you get:

By using the NRG short hub and quick release the stock distance of the wheel is retained.

I hope this was helpful, have a great day.

Already invested in a DS wheel years ago, but willing to change. I figured this mod is around $500, is that correct, for hub, release and wheel. Thanks

500 is pretty close, the wheels was 240, QR was about 120 and the hub adapter was 120. I did add black allen screws to replace the silver ones that came with the QR to better match the wheel and interior.

The OEM setup is worth 500 so this was wallet friendly too.

There are hundreds of wheels that can fit this setup if your style changes, the OEM wheel is 370mm for reference, My new one is 330mm

So this is why DS vettes can charge what they do for their wheels, they retain the OEM SRS system. Mine has been deactivated since I installed my 5pt harness and corbeau seat install. The light is on but does not bother me. Im sure it can be fooled with resistors but I won't do that until I have the passenge bag out to prevent accidental activation.

I know it's an old thread but do you have pictures of the wheel installed in the car?
