Autocross Season Prep.
This is my Prep/mod in order of what I think is priority. I have 12.7k on the ODO.
1) Oil change to full GP-5 Syn.
2) Add Power steering cooler + Change fluid
3) Change Clutch Fluid with what ever the manual says.
4) Bilstien SS Shocks
5) Z51 Sway bars
6) Z51 Oil cooler
After a few the first season.
7) Fluid Brake fluid + New pads + Steel lines
8) New tires that arnt factory (Dealer put brand new tires on car)
9) Z51 Front Spring

If the car is generally in good enough shape to drive to an autocross event, it's usually good enough to compete safely. But mods like you plan, can make the car more competitive and last longer. Be aware that NCCC autocross has severe restrictions if you want to run in stock class, and most mods will get you bumped up to modified with the big boys.
HPDE, on the other hand, requires the car to be in very good condition and some special prep (like brake fluid flush) is useful or mandatory.
You can get better advice in the autocross/road race section...
