"Best?" You are going to hear all kinds of opinions on that kind of a question. I can only tell you my experience: My 06 had its original Delco for six and a half years and was still functioning well when I replaced it. I figured I was pushing my luck to keep using it and didn't want to find myself stranded somewhere. Another Delco could certainly have been a wise choice and I was leaning in that direction when I realized I could get a Costco battery for $65.99 which was about forty dollars cheaper than the Delco. So that's what I did, since I have had great experiences with their batteries in other vehicles. I bought a Group 47 battery which at the time was a Costco #12. Has a 3 year free replacement warranty, prorated after that for a total of 100 months. Pretty hard to beat and I'm fully satisfied.

Thanks for your experience, I was thinking I wanted to get a Dry cell but Optima doesn't actually list a part number for a C6 Base coupe, I have to do more research .My 06 has 20000 miles on it and til now has had the original battery, never any trouble til now won't hold a charge .I just want to purchase the best that technology has to offer at this time. Thanks for your input ..

Having this AGM on my '05 base is reason enough, all without getting into the details.

I have always used AC Delco batteries in my Corvettes, with no issues and lasted years before I replaced them for GP.

I have a group 35 Optima in my '06. Just be sure to get the Optima GM adapter puck to hold the battery in place.

I bought the Optima D35 YELLOW TOP, to replace the original Delco
(5 years) just to be safe. The Optima only lasted 2 seasons.
I replaced it with a Delco.

Maybe I just got a bad Optima battery, but for the extra $$, I think it should of lasted a bit longer. I had the Optima shipped to me, so maybe that was partly to blame. It may of been handled roughly, or jarred, etc.

Never had any issues with the Delco as far as going bad, but I replace my car battery after 5 years due to age.

The cells will eventually short due to the accumulation of sludge at the bottom of the battery due to positive plate material flaking off cause by the normal expansion and contraction that occurs during the discharge and charge cycles. Depending on heat/cold, and how much the battery is charged and discharged plays a huge role in the performance and lifespan.

I have been reading alot of accounts that have said what you are saying about the optima, I have read more good about the Delco than anything else . I had the original Battery til now in my 06 that is pretty good service ,can't ask for more.I think I will replace with the same 8538 90-6yr , and be set for several years without concern .Thanks for the input .I almost bought a Red top today but wanted to check a little more . Snow is still on the ground here anyway so I have a couple more weeks .. Thanks again

Well now I'm really upset! We get to see the same old stale picture that's been posted a thousand times in the last 6 months but we don't get to hear the same "expert" explanation on why it's the best in world. I think we've been jipped, cheated! I guess that cute little handle makes it worth the $250 though. I'm sure it comes in handy for an old man who can't lift things like he used to.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...onnection.html

Picture was first posted on 10/27/12!! I counted 17 months ago, maybe I don't know how to count??

Along with details on how to's! As with many of my DIYs - Deleted to avoid sharing details with brash people don't deserve the information. But gladly shared with those - politely - PM'ed me!!!

Another case confirming running empty without facts!

As I have said - entertaining to see the frustrations!

I certainly hope your nasty post wasn't aimed at me ,I simply asked for some information thru the forum to help me with a decision . I thought that was what the forum was for . If you have some issue with someone else that posted a reply on my thread you should take it up with him not on my thread . I am always appreciative of HELPFUL comments and do try to give positive help when ever I feel I can ..

The only thing that frustrates me is that you can't actually hear me laughing at you and I'm not the only one. I get PMs too.
As far as your "how to's and DIY's

And to get back on topic, 3whit, I recommend Sears Die Hard Gold w/640 CCA. Mine is over 3 years old and still cranking strong. Very good, no questions asked warranty too.

Victor, there you go again. I admit I don't have your qualifications/knowledge/expertise so that, I am sure, is why I don't have a clue as to what you just said:

I put a Red Top in my 2005. Best? Don't know about that but it worked well given my 2005 had a really bad case of DBS.

OP, understood my self explanatory pictured post.

As stated, my response was understood by OP. His comment was not a question, I was satisfied with that. And if he asked, I would have gladly shared further!

As for you, I have no answers.

I just leave it at that!

Lighten up, folks.

The Forum should be a place where we treat one another with civility so that it remains a fun and friendly place to hang around with other Corvette enthusiasts. Hostility to others is rude and inappropriate.
