2005 corvette with electronic start problems. New battery, new alternator, new start button mechanism, reprogrammed the key FOBs and they open doors and trunk. Chevy dealership is guessing and cannot figure it out, and I'm not taking it back, too much trial and error and is becoming expensive replacing parts that may be okay. Lights come on, instrument panel is on, all functions are working but nothing when I push the start. It doesn't dim the lights. Six speed and will start if we push it. Have to have the clutch in and the gear in reverse, and still no function with the start button. With 65K miles, this is the first time I have had this problem. Any ideas?
have you checked the starter wire connections? and this means practically removing the starter to ensure no part of the solenoid is cracked. also check the battery cable clamps.

The Chevrolet service department disconnected and reconnected almost everything to check for faulty wiring. The only thing they did not do is go under the dash or check the clutch engagement. The vehicle has been in the service department 3 times for this problem with not satisfactory result.
With the schematic, they can follow the circuit all the way through. It's time consuming, but not difficult. The BCM is what accepts a signal from the switch that you push and in tandem with the ECM, closes the Run/Crank relay to start the engine. It also goes through the switch behind the clutch pedal on the way to the started. As stupid as it may be for them to have ignored something so simple, I sure hope they checked the clutch switch.

Schematic attached for your review.
Thank you very much. I will take this information to the Service Department and check to make sure they checked the clutch switch.
Is there something in the column that would stop the start button from working. The first time I had problems with this, there was a column lock error on my screen. I told the Service Department about it but they said it didn't have anything to do with the start.
The column lock has been known to cause many problems. They eliminated it for the '06 model because of this. I would think about getting the column lock eliminator as a new one will just cause problems again in the future.
Ditto, column lock eliminator and by-passing the clutch switch button with a Tech II will weed out half of the problems that can occurred.
If that gets it to start, then program the clutch pedal button back into to see if the problem is there. With luck, will be either at the button or wiring, and not at the BCM, requiring the BCM to be replaced instead.

Thanks so much. I'll take these suggestions to the service department!
