Here's a new one for my 2007 Vert. Last week, came out from dinner and noticed my third brake light was lit. (car is off) Started the car, checked to make sure the tail lights lit up, signals worked, brake lights lit up when the brake pedal was pressed. Everything is fine, but when I shut the car off, the 3rd brake light remains lit. Fortunately, since it's LED, it's not killing the battery.
Has anyone experienced this issue and if so, what is the cure?
Thanks very much Rick! I believe this is the issue as I had another issue last month with the LED Brake Light sequencer harness failing due to corrosion in the terminals.
If the light is on all the time check the brake switch adjustment.
I ruled out the Brake switch as this would have also triggered the main tailights/Brake lights. I believe Rick found the answer. Thanks for your input.
My car was in the body shop getting the front fascia painted and windshield replaced. I had a scratch in the rear fascia, so removed it along with tailings, etc, so the shop could prep and paint it separately from the car. When done, they hung it back on, and drove it to a detailer shop to polish the whole car. When washing it, a bunch of water must have got into the connector, and I did not notice this when reassembling the car.
Had the dim 3rd brake light happening.
Pulled the two right side tail lights, separated the connector, and it was full of water. Blew it put with compressed air, and sprayed a bunch of WD40, reassembled, and all is good now.
