I just bought a 2006 coupe and i have only had it about a week and now it wont start. when I get in the car and try to start it all the gauges seems cycle and all of the idiot lights come on. I talked to a few friends and they suggested checking the battery cables and the starter connections and I did that. I also replaced the battery in my fob thinking maybe it wasn't sending a proper signal. the first time it happened I was driving the car and I noticed some of gauges not acting right and when I shut it of the problem began. that is when I first messed with the battery and changed the fob battery. I was pushing things on the fob and trying to start the car just out of frustration and it started. I have no idea if I did something of it if just by chance started. I drove the car home and it seemed fine I was thinking maybe it was the fob battery but the next morning I got in the car and it started fine and I went to gas station and noticed the gauges not acting right again. remembering what happened the first time I drove the car home while it was still running and when I got home I shut it off and I have not been able to get it to start since. anyone have any ideas?
Since you just bought it, we need to establish if you know the history of the car battery. How old is it? Has it been checked for condition?
If you don't know anything about the car battery, the first thing you should do is replace it. These cars are very tough on batteries and a great many electrical gremlins get traced to a deficient battery.
Without being sure the battery is good it is tough to help you diagnose electrical problems.

Thanks Rick, the battery is fine, but I have been out messing with it and I think I found the source at least. either the connection to my run/crank relay is loose or the relay itself is bad. I messed with the wires and the car cranked. I am getting ready to take it out for a test drive.
the batteries suck on these cars. In cold weather a battery can die in a matter of days. I had gm replace the battery with the best one they had and it wouldn't start in my garage less that a year later. simple enough fix... Buy a battery tender with the cigarette lighter attachment and the extention for it, leave it on the garage floor so when you pull in you can reach down and just plug it in. Additionally you will never drive away with the tender pluged in still.
By the way autozone or Advanced will check your battery cells for nothing. If I were to do it over again I would purchase a optima yellow top deep cycle. which does not lose its charge if it dies once.
the way I understand it is a standard battery will lose twenty percent of Its full charge everytime it is discharged completely (dies)
lol just read your post, relays can be fun... I owned a Cadillac prior. the corvette has every bit of the electronics on it that the caddy did, but more. Solenoids to Pop the doors Electric door pads, Hud. etc etc
