Does anyone know how I can lock the doors on my vette with the engine running. We travel with a small dog and we are unable to lock doors when the engine is on. Any help in this matter would really help. Thanks
Automatic Door Locks
The vehicle is programmed so that
when the doors are closed, the
ignition is on, and the shift lever is
moved out of P (Park) for automatic
transmissions, or when vehicle
speed becomes faster than 13 km/h
(8 mph) for manual transmissions,
both doors will lock.
Are you wanting to lock the doors while the car is not moving?
My guess is that OP is looking for a way to secure the dog in the car--AC or heat on, windows up, engine running--for short periods of time. Unless, of course, the dog is driving…. IMHO, sounds like a perfect way to get both your dog and your Vette stolen.
Not sure, but could it be done with both fobs--one on the inside, one in your pocket?
Once you get out and close the doors, just push the lock button on the fob...you'll see the LED on the door go solid for a second, which indicates it is locked. To test it, you will have to get the fob away from the car, then go try opening the door with no fob on you.
I just tested it on mine and it works. Leaving cars running with the A/C on has become very popular in warm places...I was in a supermarket parking lot in Palm Desert in the summer once and must have seen twenty cars all running with no one in them. They were all expensive cars.

If the dog is capable of driving, he can surely lock his own doors.
