There are a number of hand-held tuners that let you swap tunes (including the factory tune) in and out at will. The Diablo inTune comes to mind.
Seems like that would be a better solution than swapping PCMs.

We had a GM tech say that their machine can read not only the current program, but something like the 8 previous ones. If true, you would new a new ECM.
Some other folks have suggested that other computers in the car that "talk" to the ECM, might store or transfer some information that could give you away.

Diablo makes the claim that with the inTune, restoring the factory tune leaves no detectable trace. Its a pretty bold claim if untrue. I have one on order. Guess we'll find out.
