You say the turn signal only, it does NOT come on for braking too correct. If it is absolutely only the turn signal, you have another problem. and yes the normal replacement bulb is a very common 3157.

Yes, the housings are left and right and are marked as such. The bulbs have two filaments, so you could have parking light working and brake/blinker not, but brake and blinker must be the same if the bulb is the cause. Also, when you replace the taillight housing into the car, be careful not to push the speed nut off and down behind the fascia...it will be hard to find.

It is the bulb. The brake light doesn't work on that assembly, either.
