I have a C6 coupe and it seems that on starting it and attempting to go to reverse the shift lever sticks in the Park position and I have to pull, tug, bite my tongue, cuss and go through all sorts of effort to get it to move, any suggestions or fixes?

More than likely it's a bad shifter solenoid which requires removing the console and shifter boot to access. The solenoid is non-replaceable part and if it'S bad the shifter will have to be replaced OR the cam on the shifter wired back to allow you to shift. BUT--before you replace the shifter, disconnect the solenoid wire connector and provide a 12 Volt external power source to the solenoid leads to be certain the solenoid indeed does not work. I used a 12Volt motorcycle battery charger and my solenoids work!! of course, this was AFTER I had the old shifter removed, bought a new one , installed it, and found I still was locked in Park. It's the switch under the brake pedal that's screwed up. One temporary thing you can do IF you get stuck in Park and need to drive the car is to cut a small slit in the shifter boot on the driver side right at the shifter location. Stick a pen, pocket knife blade, or something like that through the slit, and push the solenoid cam back toward the rear of the car. This disengages the cam lock that is keeping in in Park and allows you to shift into all the other gears. each time you put it back into park you'll have to repeat this until you can get it fixed. If I had known this could be done before last Sunday I wouldn't have had to rent a car trailer and have a friend tow me 250 home.

Been discussed many times. Forum search works great.
I am very appreciative of the fact that this Forum is here. I've used it many times with great success and you guys who have been here awhile are Godsends. But to simply say " Forum Search " doesn't help this guy a bit. Tell him what to search on to get his answers, Please.

You are right.
I just figured a member since 2001 would know how.
This issue is becoming more and more apparent and the cost of repair is quite high. Please take a moment to log in your issue and help GM do the right thing and issue a recall and new or replacement part.
