The drivers side power seat is not working and the motor was hot when I parked last night. This morning the battery was almost dead will not start car. Where is the fuse or relay for the drivers side power seat and is the motor most likely bad?
Hmmm, the motor itself could be shorted but very few bad motors reported over the years. It's usually a bad/shorted switch or pinched/shorting wire under the seat, maybe in a connector under the seat. Will take some diagnosis to find.
Ditto, bad switch or pinched wire causing the problem of constant power to the seat motor.
As for the safety over heat fuse in the motor itself, not replaceable in the common sense if it will not reset once it cools back down, but there is a mod of soldering out the over heat fuse and adding in a conventional fuse in line so you don't have to replace the entire motor/seat assembly.
Check the switch on the side of the seat. When I installed a passenger power seat track I found it was easy for the power seat switch to rub against the plastic trim piece and stick in the on position. Check the switch to see if it moves back and forth freely.
I removed the 30 amp circuit breaker going to the seats and the 20 amp heated seat fuse on the drivers side both ok not open or tripped. Charged the battery and now no starting problems and no hot seat motor. Power seat switch moves freely not hung up.
