Default Exhaust swap

Well I finally broke down and did my exhaust swap. I did the manifolds, cat's and X pipe from an 09 ZR1 into my 08 LS3 A6. All the time I was contemplating doing this I could not find any pictures of the dreaded connection of the stock bi-mode mufflers to the 3" X pipe, everyone said how terrible it was but no pic's. Well here is a couple of pic's of that only. Everyone has seen tons of pictures of LS9 manifolds and cat's. It will be off to the shop Tuesday to get this fixed, I did as much as I could. Enjoy the Horror lol.

So you're showing the infamous '08 to '09 passenger side angle difference, purported to be "about 5 degrees"?

Thanks for the pics, you're right, haven't seen any before. Please leave them alone on your photo hosting sight for years to come so others can find them. TIA

That's pretty much why most of the 3" to 2.5" reduction is done right after the X or H- pipe mounting point.

Ya gotta do the correction mating in the straight section of the X-H pipe rear.

They are posted right here, I do not have a web hosting site so they should remain. also......

Am I to understand that the modification is to be done to the X pipe end point is there any modification needing to be done to the 2 1/2" pipe on the muffler, or the x pipe on the driver side? I want to know exactly what to tell the mechanic doing the work. From what I have read the X pipe is Aluminized..... will there be any issues welding in a section of galvanized to make the correction?

Transition both the diameter, the length, and the direction shortly after the x-pipe mounting point (the hanger) and well before the mating area of the over-the-axle joint. Easy to weld.

Mine is welded, I would not trust a slip joint.

This will prove an annoyance with possible future repairs though were removal of the X-H pipe or mufflers is required.

OK so i went today to a local shop Muffler Haus here in Roanoke and had my system completed, Great service reasonable and a friendly guy . Boomer111 i took your suggestion and had him just weld everything in place. Here are a before and a couple after shots up on the lift.
Oh yes 1 shot of my home made CAI from under the car. and the sound is wonderful, I get a lot more of that gurgling sound now with the 3". Now I just need to get a Tune.
