05 c6 diff upgrade to 06+
well guys, I have a buddy selling his stock t56 trans from anpother 05 base like mine, im planning on getting it tomorrow. anyways, I really need to upgrade to the 06+ diff, but I heard the 06+ diffs wont bolt up to the 05 tail housing on the trans, can I buy a factory 06+ tailhousing for the t56 and just buy a built 06 diff? the part number I found on another thread for a factory 06+ tail housing is gm part #19132778. thanks guys!!

Maybe this link will help. By the way, I put a C5 Z06 diff with an adapter plate for the cradle in mine. Love it and it's way cheaper.

You are on the right path with the new tail housing adapter (I did the same thing). As mentioned you can also go with a C5 diff with a cradle adapter and use your 05 Trans as is. For what it's worth - I have friends with C5's that broke the diff also....but to each their own. Same can be said for C6'ers and even z06 guys. Just depends on how you manhandle the car.
The lack of ribbing and the lower mount definitely make 05's C6 diffs the least desirable. Either way you go you will still be moving away from a known weakness.

got the trans a few days ago, now I found a diff out of a 07 im gonna be picking up, then swapping a set of 3.73 gears into it. im also looking at the DTE trans brace for added security.
