A5 Shifter Broken?
Drove my 2005 C6 yesterday and park it for the evening. Today 12 hours later I got in to wash it and shifter moves but does not engage into any gears and will not start whatsoever. Anyone experience this before? Thanks!

Possible the cable disconnected from the shifter or trans. The bushings at the connections tend to rot and break and fall out. Have to open the console to check the shifter end and/or get under the car to check the trans end. Here's one case of the shifter bushing repair with pics and links to other threads:
