Default NPP vs Dual mode help...

Hello once again folks. I've used the searched option and can't really find the exact answer I'm looking for so I'm gonna post again...sorry if it's been posted before, I just can't find the answer I'm looking for before I buy something that's not compatible with my car...thanks

Any I currently have LG long tube headers 1 7/8 installed on my car. It has NO EXHAUST, AND IS DEMONICALLY LOUD. I bought the car like that. So I've been reading most people like the stock exhaust that are on the z06 because it's quiet when the flaps are closed, and loud when open. At this point I'm sure any exhaust will be much more quiet than what I have now (nothing lol).

Anyway my question is...If I buy the z06 muffler will the flaps open and close when needed if I also order a mild to wild switch? I'm pretty sure the z06 muffler will bolt on to my headers because it's 3" piping, and that's what the last owner said I needed to buy. I just wanna know will the flaps work (open and close) when I need it to be even on my 05 z51 6 SPEED model or no? I really trying to refrain from tickets and headaches and drones...Well drone doesn't bother me much but I need that exhaust to tone down a lot! Help please!

You need a retrofit kit that either has a vacuum tank or vacuum pump. The Z06 mufflers use vacuum to keep the flaps closed. I did mine the cheap way. I just ran a vacuum line all the way back and directly hooked to the actuators. That means when I was in low throttle/high vacuum they were shut. Then when I gave it throttle and the vacuum dropped the flaps opened. Then I bought a Corsa, lol.

Why did you buy the corsa? And this method will work with the z06 muffler on my 05 correct?

I got a good deal. A friend was selling their Z06 and we swapped exhausts. Yes it will work. The controller retrofit kit would be the best way though.

Okay good deal! Thanks for the info. But one more time just to make sure lol...

1. Buy the z06 muffler
2. Buy this retrofit kit you suggested and I will have an opening and closing exhaust with the push of a button to quiet down my car just like the Z's?

3. Nothing else I need lol?

You got it!

You could also get B&B Fusion mufflers. http://www.bbexhaust.com/car/corvette/fusion/

Akrapovic also is dual mode.

You do realise that the Z06 &/or the NPP mufflers bolt to a mid-pipe that bolts to the headers/manifolds?

Just headers and mufflers won't complete an exhaust system.

Stock exhaust has 7 pieces;

L&R manifolds
L&R cats
Mid pipe
L&R mufflers.

Most header systems replace piece for piece, i.e. 7 pieces for the header system also.

This is what's on the car now

I'm pretty sure it's a full system and all I need to complete it is the axle back/and or muffler

Hmmmm, now your making me think lol. I think I'll go the z06 route first if I don't like that, I'll look into the billy boat since that's what seems to be popular!
