Clearing Error Hard Codes / Service Column Lock
Attached to this post, at the bottom, is a dealer invoice with two error codes (DTC) for my '05. They say they cannot clear. As you can see, there was a workaround of some sort to the column lock.
Background...
'05 manual that when I mistakenly tried to turn on without the fob in the garage threw the "Service Column Lock" DIC message. I have owned the car for 6 months and had zero issues. The car cycles and starts just fine, but the message pops on the DIC every 5 minutes or so since I pushed ignition button withour fob around. If I disconnect the battery it'll clear for about one week before coming back.
Clearly, the previous owner had something done to the column lock to work around the error, however, I have no idea what was done. In some of my investigation it looks like the message can be kicked starting is attempted without the proper "driver ID device" present. (i.e. fob)
My issue is clearing the code. Dealer wants to revert everything back to factory stock (of course) and offered little brain power to solve.
Thoughts - Ideas?
