Severe Front End "Clunk"
Out of nowhere yesterday, while pulling away from a stoplight, I started getting a metallic clunking noise coming from the front end of the car. Almost feels like something is hitting the floorboard.
I jacked up the car and had a look and everything seemed ok. Then I drove it to a repair shop - clunking all the way - and left it with the mechanic. He only had a short time to look at it today, as he left town at lunch and will continue to diagnose the car on Monday.
It almost sounds like the subframe is loose, although he said everything under the car looks good.
Oh, and the noise happens only when the car is in motion, doesn't matter whether the driveline is loaded or not. It does not make noise while stationary and brake-torquing the drivetrain.
Any thoughts or ideas are much appreciated...Thanks!
