Default Fit and Compatibility

I'm looking at different options for power increases. duh, like anyone else.

I have an 06 with the std LS2. I have headers and cats and that good stuff. If I were to swap heads to L92 heads or go with an LS3 engine altogether, would I also need new headers. or are the exhaust port configurations pretty similar between LS2 and LS3 applications?

thanks for any input.

I dont believe the headers will work on both.....an ls3 swap isn't worth it for the 35hp difference. What hp do you want to be at? Heads/cam or fi would be a WAY better option.

Head/cam kit with appropriate cam upgrade to match. 100 HP increase or close.

If you need more....put a small 100 shot of spray.

Those two will equal about 600 RWHP.....then you'll need some transmission upgrades.

I guess that brings me back to my question. if I have different heads, other than the LS2 design.. Say i go with LS3 heads, are the exhaust ports the same so that I don't have to change out the exhaust too? I know that Intake port shape/size are different as well as the intake manifolds. I never see much info about exhaust port design across different heads.

I went with a LS3 top along with a cam, FAST intake, CNC heads, etc and picked up 100 at the wheels. I used my LS2 headers with no issues. I would contact the headers supplier to confirm becasue the LS3 exhaust ports are slightly bigger.
