Hey Chief, There is no need to change your sensors. However sometimes sensors get stuck on an older rim and only then you would need to get a new sensor.

It sort of depends on how old the sensors are and whether or not they are corroded. On a lot of cars the sensors have to replaced more often since condensation inside the rims can cause them to fail. Usually the sensors in Vette wheels do pretty good since the cars aren't driven as much and don't see the temperature swings or constant adding of air.

If the sensors aren't all that old (4 or 5 years) just inspect them when the tires are off. If they are grungy and corroded think about replacing them.

I have 1 in my '08 that is starting to act up. I get a message that my lt front is flat and will go into reduced power mode. So far, I don't think it has gone into reduced power/55mph mode as this has happened while on the fwy. It does go off after a few seconds. I'll get them all changed with my next tire change.
They have their own internal, non replaceable battery, so they will all fail eventually.

Like others have said, I've never replaced the tire sensors (until they have acted up).

Having said that, I do let Discount Tire "rebuild" the tire sensors each time I replace the tires. It's supposed to help seal around the sensor, by replacing O-rings, nuts, etc.

Mine are still working fine on my 06, but after 8 years I will change them the next time I replace the tires. The battery will eventually fail in all of them.
